The New 2012!!!

Hello to you all and warm greetings for the new year 2012! At least for me it was impatiently expected and it started very very positively!

What about you? How did you spend the holidays? It is good to have a break and recharge the batteries, but you have a very important task with your research, sooooo  BACK TO BUSINESS!!!

Two things I have to remind you about:

• respond to Marlen’s e-mail and do it on time!
• prepare for the spring part of the course, starting in the end of February!

And of course don’t hesitate to write me any time with questions or ideas!

Tips for Your Research Proposal… and Research Writing in General

So, here are the things I mentioned in my Skype presentation on 16/11 in brief:

• follow the points given in the course overview and course requirements – they are the skeleton of your research proposal
• research methods – the term does not refer only to data collection methods, but also to data analysis
• purpose and benefits of the conducted research – convince your audience that your research is widely beneficial – both for the theoreticians and the practitioners
• don’t be scared to put on paper the initial ideas you have, as well as – don’t be afraid to modify them in future
• draw a conceptual model / framework of the research to picturize the abstract terms, the relations between components, their order or timeline; this will decrease the abstractness and make possible mistakes in your understanding easy to detect; you can decide to include the scheme only in the Research Proposal, the Research Plan, the Thesis or in all of the mentioned papers by your choice;
• speak about your research, even to people who don’t understand anything about your subject – sometimes these people give fresh good ideas, which can get you out of a place in your research writing, where you have been stuck for long!

I took a look at your blogs. I liked very much reading your goals for the course. Everyone has so different point of view, some of the goals are just general, but some, I can see, are connected with very specific expectations! I’ll be following your blogs in future and comment on the posts, however if you need commentary or assistance on specific topic you can also contact me via e-mail or in the facebook group (mentioned in the ABOUT section).

Now, as I understand you are Psychology students. I respect so much your programme because it has always looked 1000% more serious than mine! I don’t know how much I understand about Psychology, however I’d like to hear more about your research ideas. Please leave a comment on this post, which explains what you have in mind!

As I explained in this blog already few times, my programme didn’t go quite smoothly and so I don’t have official thesis proposal. “Something like this” is my research plan, which you can find in MY RESEARCH IN PROGRESS section.
